We are proud to say that we are one of the few remaining bootmakers still able to master this traditional and demanding handcrafted technique boots with a solid build up of the sole.
The handcrafted technique is essential for the price, life period, repair friendliness and stability of the fitting of the boots. It means the connection between the bootleg and the bottom (sole). Next to the used material this is the main criterion to estimate the quality of a shoe or a boot. We offer four different options:
Good Year welted
Good-Year welt construction” involves stitching a welt to the upper and a strip of preformed canvas like a “rib” that runs all around and bottom (known as “gemming”) cemented to the insole of a shoe as an attach-point for the out sole. The space enclosed by the welt is then filled with cork and the outsole is both cemented and stitched to the welt. Shoes with other types of construction may also have welts. The shoe is very breathable. Good-Year welted boots have a superior durability, are friendly to repair and the foot will keep their shape.
We advise to order te boots with an additional rubber sole to protect the seams of the leather sole against abrasion. The rubber sole can be easiliy changed and is much cheeper than make a whole new bottom.
Double stitched
Shoes or boots that are meant to be worn in extremely adverse conditions are made using the double-stitching production method. This method makes shoes remarkably robust . The rib of double-stitched boots are welted from the side instead of from below. This method therefore gets its name from the fact that the upper leather and the lining of the boots are connected by two visible seams.
Glued sole
The glued production method is also a traditional production method which is a equal method to a stitched sole. At this method the upper leather is directly glued to the outsole or to the midsole.
Colour of the sole
No matter if you want to have a boot wit a Good Year welted or a glued sole or with a Ago base, you can choose between a black, dark brown or a natural sole.
